Wrong !!
Estate A has no house Sparrows. It is the Stonegrove, an austere estate visited by an aggressive gang of magpies and a flock of up to 80 pigeons that feed on the dropped takeaway food left by school children taking shortcuts from the burger bar, and bread thrown from the windows by certain residents. A couple of carrion crows have been seen and the occasional pair of pied wagtails bravely peck at the paths.
This is not an area where house sparrows have disappeared; they never arrived according to some of the elderly residents! Not even robins or blackbirds pass through, as there is nothing for any garden bird to feed on or nest in.
